How long can I keep a bottle of wine after it's been opened?
Generally speaking, a bottle of wine should remain drinkable for about 2-5 days after opening -- assuming the bottle has been re-corked or the cap screwed back on, is kept out of sunlight, and the temperature remains fairly moderate and consistent. The less air in the bottle, the longer the wine will stay fresh. Keeping the bottle in a refrigerator (for whites, pinks, and reds) may extend its freshness.

How can I get Meletti Cioccolato in Texas? I enjoyed this wonderful liqueur while visiting in New York not knowing that it was unavailable in Texas. I thought that surely I could find it in Houston.
Thanks for your interest in Meletti liqueurs! They are delicious. Unfortunately, we don't have distribution of the brand just yet in Texas. Your best bet is to find the wine through an online retailer that can ship to you.
You can search for any of our wines online through our website. Just choose the wine you want to find, and on the right side of the page you'll see a box that says "Find This Wine". Click on any of the three options - WineSearcher, WineZap, or Vinquire - and you'll get a list of retailers that can ship the wine to you. Feel free to email with any questions!

I just inherited a wonderful bottle of Opici California Port and we have no idea of the age. The bottle is green, the cap white and embossed 'fine quality wine', and the label says 'produced and bottled by Opici Wine Co. Cucumonga CA'. It is simply fabulous. Is it still available? We know it has to have been purchased prior to 1988. Bellisimo and near gone!
This brings back memories! Unfortunately, we haven't produced our Port in many years. We used to have a vineyard in Cucamonga years ago where all our Opici California wines were produced. The vineyard hasn't been in operation for over 25 years and I don't believe it exists anymore. Now we have our wines bottled for us at other facilities. Enjoy the last of that Port - it is a classic!

Hello Mr. O I like your Opici Burgundy wine it beats all other burgundy wines i think.I have to ask why did Opici stop making the one gallon? Now Opici makes 3L instead why fool the public when you have a great burgundy wine why cheat the people ? We pay more for less just another Bussiness trick
Thanks Alot!
Anthony
Hi Anthony,
Thank you for taking the time to email about this. You are not the first to express frustration with the change to 3L glass. The truth is we were forced to make this change - it was not something we wanted to do.
For years we've had trouble finding 4L glass at a reasonable price. It finally got to the point where we had to downsize to a more readily available size. The price of glass continued to rise, and we did the best we could to keep the pricing competitive.
Some of our competition have the ability to produce their own glass. We don't have that luxury. We have to get our glass from the small number of suppliers that have it and dictate the price. We even moved the bottling to a winery in NY state to try to reduce the cost. I assure you that we aren't trying to trick our loyal customers. This was a necessity if we wanted to continue selling Opici wines.
Please feel free to email with any other questions. We sincerely appreciate your continued support!

Hi Mr. O, Do you sell in Dakar, Senegal? Thanks for your response.

Thanks

Mr. O, I tried a wine that was a spumanti years ago by Opici. Can you please tell me the name of this wine and where it can be bought? It was sparkling, bubbly, and sweet like a champagne, but very good.
This was most likely an Asti Spumante or Moscato d'Asti. These wines are now under the Villa Rosa label named after Rose Opici. Let me know where you are located and I'll try to help you find a store nearby that carries them. You can also search online for a retailer that can ship the wine to you. Check out www.winesearcher.com.
Thanks,

If you had to replace Barbarone with another wine, what would be the closest type of wine
There is no replacement for Homemade Barberone! It is one of a kind. The profile is quite sweet, so you could start by looking for another wine with a similar sweetness. It is also fairly high in alcohol. There arent many wines like it, and we are grateful for our loyal fans!
Thanks,
Mr. O

Can I get a wine with my own label on it for retail purposes

How much cost of a bottle of OPICI Homemade Barberone(1.5L) ALC 14% in New Jersey?

Hello....First of all...glad you have this Ask mr. O
I saw your companies name on a bottle of Capitel della Crosara Amarone (Monnopolio Montresor).
Do you still import this brand? If not do you know who does? Also, do you have any of their vintage 99 amarone?
thanks so much!
Jim
That is a blast from the past! We are no longer importing Capitel della Crosara, and I'm not sure if anyone still does. We've sold out of all the wine. Sorry I can't help you with the '99 vintage.
Mr. O

What is the band around the neck and the meaning of the letters and numbers
I think you are referring to the DOCG wines of Italy; if so, those codes are a way of counting the number of bottles produced. One of the requirements of DOCG status is to restrict the supply (and in turn keep the level of quality very high), and so these codes help track and confirm the wine's total production.
-
Are their any distributors in the state of Minnesota? I was introduced to your wines recently in Florida, and would like to purchase more of them in my home state of Minnesota.
Thank you!
Our distributor in Minnesota is Grand Pere Wines. They carry some of our Opici branded items. You can also have our wines shipped directly to you through an online retailer. Find the wine you are looking for on our site and click on the "Find This Wine" section on the right side of the item page. I was at the Epcot Wine and Food Festival in Orlando, FL where I attended the Dessert Discovery event. I tried a Port that you had on your table. All I remember is KM or KW... 2007. I would like to purchase, but cannot find it because I do not have enough information. Please help!
Thank You, Joe Perez
Joe, you most likely tasted one of the ports from KWV: KWV Cape Ruby Port or KWV Cape Tawny Port. It is available in Florida; you can ask your local retailer to order it from our distributor, Opici Wine Company of Florida. Glad you enjoyed it!
-

I just want to know who is the distributor for your products in Connecticut?

I chose your USA Madeira wine from a Luekens in Dunedin, FL a year ago or so and knew Madeira would be a favored choice.
Can you explain why this store has not carried your Madeira now for many months, though it does stock your Marsala? When
I inquire there, no one seems to know why. But I sure would like to again buy your Madeira. Thanks
That is strange. Our Madeira is still available, and your local store can purchase it through the same distributor that supplies our Marsala. All they have to do is ask for it! Ask them to add some Madeira to their next order and we'll be happy to deliver it.
Thanks,
Mr. O

I just found a photo of our Italian extended family (60 people) at a dinner in the late 40's. On the tables are bottles of Opici wine. I am looking forward to going to the liquor store to buy the same wine my family indulged in many years ago. If you like, I can send you a copy of the photo.
Nina D'Agostino (Lepis family)
Hi Nina,
This is fantastic! I would love to see the photo if you can email me a copy.
Thanks,

I have two bottles of Opici Vino Robusto. One has the older white label and says, "100% Pure Californina." And the other one has the new black label and says, "Vinted & Bottled by Opici Vineyards, Washingtonville, NY" So what's the story? Thanks
P.S. I used to drink Campobasso and when they stopped making it I searched around and finally settled on the Vino Robusto.
Many of our wines were bottled in California for years, and last year we moved the bottling to NY. The juice is still coming from the same place in CA, but the bottling location has changed. We also redesigned the label and changed it from white to black. It's the same wine just a different package. I hope this helps!
Thanks,
Mr. O

We visited the KWV winery while in South Africa. I am interested in obtaining the Cathedral Cellar Pinotage, the KWV Cape Tawny port, and the KWV 10 year old Brandy. Do you carry all of these, and if so, can you let me know the price and how to order? Thanks!
Hope you enjoyed your visit! Unfortunately we do not import the Cathedral Cellar Pinotage at this time, though we do bring in their Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. You can see more about those wines here: Cathedral Cellar.
We do import the KWV Cape Tawny Port; if you go to this page you can click on the icons on the right below the words "Find this wine" to see retailers in your area who carry it. The KWV Brandy is also imported, but in limited quantities so you may need to request a special order through your local retailer.

Mexcor is carrying about 15 of the KWV wines, including KWV Tawny Port. Is that the one you are looking for? Please give them a call, and if you have trouble feel free to contact us again.

What is the name of the Amarone wine that has a purple label? It's not an expensive wine - I hear it is often sold for less than $50. Where can I get it in the Nashua (southern) NH area?

We live in Wisconsin; love the Vino Robusto in FL! where can we find it locally? Is Illinois the closest? and where can we have family buy in Illinois? Or is there a distributor in WI? We have tried multiple stores/warehouses locally.
Also...how long can you keep an open bottle??? for real? We never have to worry about it getting old!
Unfortunately, we don't have distribution of the Robusto in Wisconsin. We do have Homemade Barberone which is similar. Please contact our distributor, Capitol Husting, for a list of accounts near you that carry the wine.
You should be able to keep the bottle open a few days, but leave it sealed and in the fridge to be safe.
-
Hi I have a bottle of Opici vino Lambrusco . It says it is imported but it does not have a date. Can you tell me more about this bottle? Thanks!
Our Lambrusco is bottled as a "non-vintage", meaning, the grapes used for it may come from several different years -- this ensures that the quality and taste of the wine will be consistent. There is more information about Opici Lambrusco on our website, right here: Opici Lambrusco. If you enjoy Lambrusco you may also be interested in two new ones we now import from Donelli; see this page: Donelli Winery

What are the grapes you use in making the Homemade Barbarone red?
Thanks for your interest in our Homemade Barberone! Our blend is a family secret that I can't give away, but what I can tell you is that the main grape is Ruby Cabernet. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

Where can I buy this wine I tasted in Mount Dora, Florida? The name is Cocoa di Vine. It would be nice to find it in Minnesota.
This is our newest wine! We are just beginning to get distribution of this product around the country. Its not in Minnesota yet, but we hope it will be soon. In the meantime, you can find it online and have it shipped to you. Check out the Find This Wine section on the Cocoa di Vine item page on our website.

I have a Opici Italian Selection Lambrusco Deli/Emilia bottle that was given to me from my mother and i was just wondering the age of it and if there isany value on it? There is no year on the bottle but i know its very old
It's hard to say how old the wine is since its non vintage. It's not a particularly expensive wine, and it's not one that is meant to age, so I wouldn't say its very valuable (except for the fact that its a gift from your mom!). Drink it the next time you have a special occasion.
Thanks!

Hi Mr. O. I just had your chocolate and wine for Valentine's Day and I loved it. My question to you is, do you/are you going to make any chocolate wine with berries in it. Example: Chocolate Raspberry wine or Chocolate and Strawberry wine, just to name a few. Thank you so much for a wonderful product. I can't wait to get another bottle from my job.
Katie - Bangor, Maine
Hi Katie,
I'm thrilled to hear you love our Cocoa di Vine! We currently only have the one flavor, but we are working on others as we speak. Stay tuned for more!
Thanks,
Mr. O

re: Opici Barberone Wines - are these "deliciouso" wines bottled from grapes grown in upstate New York? Just curious about the origin of the unique blend and taste.
Our Barberone is a proprietary blend that we like to keep a secret! The main grape is Ruby Cabernet from California. We are bottling the wine in NY, but the juice is coming from California. I hope that helps.
Thanks!

Are the La Colombaia wines considered Organic, Green or Sustainable?
Thanks, one of my customers asked.
Dan D
Dan, the La Colombaia wines are not certified organic, but the winery does do their best to practice sustainable and green methods throughout the winemaking process.

I just had a request for Golden Kaan Cabernet at my store. When I looked up the distributor for the USA it said Opici Wine Imports. I looked it up in your book but didn't see it listed. Do you still distribute this product?
Hi Rick,
We do not import Golden Kaan. It is part of the KWV portfolio, and we import many of their wines. However, Golden Kaan is one brand that we don't represent in the US. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Mr. O

why do you charge so much more in ma. for your opici homemade type...i love this wine but i have converted my costomers to fortissimo.i don't think that the ma. distributor is in line with ny or ct..i know ny is 44.00 /cs on 5 while ma. is at least 10 dollars more. could you please answer this e/mail because when i called a few weeks i never received a return call.thank you for your time..ed domaney..domaneys/gt.barrington ma
Hi Ed,
Our Homemade Barberone is typically less expensive in the NY/NJ area. We distribute the wine ourselves in those states, so that keeps the cost down. Also, distributors in the rest of the country have freight costs associated with shipping the wine to them, while we don't have those costs locally. The two factors combined almost always make the wine more expensive in the rest of the country. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions.
Thanks,
Mr. O

I have 2 Greyhound wine bottles filled with wine. They are both 18" tall. The label (although in Italian, translates to)-- Arola Selection Chianti designation of production. Bottled in the production area from the cellars A. Zaccheo Greve in Chianti, Italy. Reg. 1367/fl or !! can't really make it out. Would you know anything about this wine?
This wine comes from the Carpineto winery. A. Zaccheo is short for Antonio Zaccheo, one of the founders of Carpineto. That's about all I can tell you about it. I'd open one and give it a try!

My wine is in a fish bottle, dated 1989, the label is Orvieto Classico Opici Italian Selection, Imported by the American B.D. Company Hawthorne, N.J. alcohol 11.5% by vol. This is a white wine bottled by Centrovini-Pontedera, Italy. I would like to know the value if any and will it be ok to drink it. It was a birthday present. 10-08-2011
Thanks for your email. This wine isn't meant for aging and doesn't have any significant value. It's quite an old vintage now, so don't waste another day and try it! It's probably not going to be at its best, but that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it! Let me know if you have any other questions.
