Real Housewives Star Ramona Singer Talks Ramona Pinot Grigio & ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’
Grab a glass, and get ready for some turtle time! Season 5 of “The Real Housewives of New York City” is finally here, and Ramona Singer is toasting the exciting season with her new vintage of Ramona Pinot Grigio. We caught up with the Real Housewives star to find out what makes Ramona Pinot Grigio so fabulous, who she dreams of sharing a glass of Pinot with, and what we can expect from the Big Apple’s housewives this season.
Opici Wines: Obviously, Ramona Pinot Grigio is your drink of choice. What makes this Pinot Grigio stand out from all the others?
Ramona Singer: It’s smooth. I enjoy drinking my wine, and I don’t always want to have food with it. With a lot of wines, you need to partake in eating, and this wine stands alone really well. The last note is smooth, you don’t need food with it, and it tastes delicious. It’s the best Pinot Grigio out there in my opinion.
OW: You’ve tackled everything from fashion to jewelry to skincare to reality television, and now wine. How would you describe your first year in the wine industry?
RS: I’m loving every minute of being involved with the wine. The first year in the wine business has been fantastic. I never realized how much I would love it. I almost enjoy being in the wine business as much as I love my wine.
OW: We know you love entertaining friends at your Hamptons home over the summer. What are some of your favorite snacks and food to serve with Ramona Pinot Grigio?
RS: When I’m having a dinner party, I make my famous chicken dish. It’s chicken made with white wine — now Ramona Pinot Grigio — artichokes, and mushrooms. When people are just coming over to hang out in the afternoon and early evening, I set out a crudité of fresh vegetables and some different kinds of cheese with crackers. And a standby is always Tostitos Hint Of Lime with salsa.
OW: If you could share a glass of Ramona Pinot Grigio with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be?
RS: Barbara Walters.
OW: Tuesday night (June 5), you’ll be meeting fans at Beacon Wines & Spirits in NYC, and you’re planning numerous other appearances around the country this year. What’s the best part about connecting with fans?
RS: The best part of when I do these in-store wine appearances is feeling the warmth and love from the people who come. It’s overwhelming. It always brings tears to my eyes. I also like the fact that even though things get crazy on the show “The Real Housewives of New York City,” the fans get me and realize that while I’m a woman who has it all — a great marriage, a daughter, several businesses — I’m a self-made woman. And it’s nice to know that I inspire them. It’s overwhelming. I get goosebumps and almost want to cry.
OW: Speaking of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” congratulations on season 5 (which premieres tonight, June 4, on Bravo)! What can viewers expect from this upcoming season?
RS: The show is more exciting than ever this year because there are three new women, which changed all the dynamics. There’s definitely drama, but it never gets dark. We go on three trips this year: one to London — which I didn’t get invited to — South Beach, and St. Barth’s. St. Barth’s was so off the wall, it could’ve been 14 episodes just off that trip.
OW: Any final words for your fans?
RS: I’d like to thank each and every one for your continued support.
