Victory for Screw Caps
As announced by Decanter earlier this week, Italian authorities approved the use of synthetic closures for DOC and DOCG wines. For the first time, synthetic corks and screw caps may be used on the higher-end wines. However, it will take some time to see these mandates go into effect as it will be up to each individual DOC and DOCG consortium to decide whether to modify their requirements to reflect this change. It will certainly be interesting to see which appellation will embrace this change. Who do you think will evolve with the times? How do you feel about synthetic closures?
