13.8%The Legado line of wines from De Martino showcase a specific varietal and their cultivation in the best terroirs of Chile resulting in wines that express the true character of each region.
Vineyards:
Certified organic by Germany’s BCS Öko Garantie GMBH, 33 hectares of the Santa Inés vineyard are dedicated to the production of this wine. Located on an arm of the Maipo River that dried up at an elevation of 350 meters where the soil is poor and stony with excellent drainage capabilites. Deep rooting systems developed in the alluvial soil rich in sand, clay, and gravel. Planted using the trellis training method, the density is 5000 vines/hectare.

Winemaking:
A selective manual harvest was carried out in late April. The bunches were cold-soaked in stainless steel tanks at 8-10°C for 4-7 days. At 26-28°C in stainless steel tanks, fermentation took place over a 9-day period. Maceration followed for 28 days with periodic pump-overs and aeration. Full malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine was aged in French oak barriques of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th use for 12 months. Prior to bottling, the wine was filtered and refrigerated, then cellared for an additional year.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of berries and black currants abound on the nose, backed by notes of tobacco and spice. Subtle hints of vanilla and mocha are present as well. It is full-bodied and harmonious with a long finish. The tannins are firm meaning it has the potential to age well, yet elegant making it approachable upon release.
