14.2%“Kinien” is a word from the Mapuche language meaning “the unique”. Kinien is the icon line of wines made by Ruca Malen.
Vineyards:
Located in Vista Flores, Uco Valley at 1100 meters above sea level, the vines were planted in 1999 and the average yield is 5 tons per hectare. Soil is sandy loam, rocky with very good drainage and very poor in organic matter. The Cabernet grapes were picked during the second week of April.

Winemaking:
Immediately upon reception at the winery, the grapes were sorted at a selection table operated by 4 women for the best bunches, as only the best bunches are used in the production of Kinien. After the inoculation of selected yeasts, fermentation lasted 8-10 days at 26-28°C in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration took place for 28 days, with 5 manual pigeages per day during the first 4 days. After fermentation completed, the wine was left to rest for 28 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks before the wine was aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months.
Tasting Notes:
Vivid blue hues emerge from the deep burgundy color. On the nose, it shows black fruit, particularly cassis, with smoky notes that further enhance the aroma. It shows good concentration and great volume with balanced acidity and great intensity on the palate, packed with small rounded tannins that give the wine a good texture. The finish is long and persistent, complex and elegant.
Food Pairings:
Pairs well with essentially all grilled red meats, particularly Argentine asado.
