“Yauquen” is a word from the Mapuche language that means “to share a drink with a friend”. This is the entry-level, value line of wines produced by Ruca Malen.

A portion of the grapes were hand-harvested in late March, while the balance was gathered in mid-April. Upon reception at the winery, a pre-fermentative maceration was carried out at 8ºC for 5 days with 1 pigeage per day. After the inoculation of selected yeasts, fermentation lasted 8-10 days at temperatures of 24-26°C in stainless steel tanks. Maceration occurred for 12 days, with 4 pump-overs per day during the first 4 days. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. About 20% of the wine was aged in small oak barrels for 6 months then blended before bottling.
Nearly black in color, this Malbec has aromas of ripe black cherries, plums, and violet flowers with subtle notes of vanilla and caramel. Jammy, packed with fresh red fruit and a pleasant acidity that balances nicely with the firm tannins. The finish is round and generous with a touch of sweet oak.
Enhances grilled red meats, tomato-based pasta dishes, empanadas and rice dishes.
