Crianza DOC

Produced from the 100% Tempranillo, this native varietal is fermented and aged in oak for at least 12 months with an additional six months resting in bottle, prior to release. El Coto Crianza is exceptionally balanced with layers of fresh raspberry, cherry, spice and toasted oak, building to a silky finish. Perfectly complements a variety of meats and cheeses, especially jamon.

Dark garnet to the eye, this wine has aromas of black currant, licorice and Marcona almond. Its smooth tannins feel good on the palate. Opening flavors of bittersweet chocolate and mint hit the tastebuds first, followed by flavors of blackberry and raspberry that are joined by touches of vanilla and baking spice on the finish.

Wine & Spirits - 92 pts, "Best Buy"

This wine’s fresh anise scent has the underlying earthiness of tripe, and it would be pretty delicious with a bowl of tripe braised in red wine. It offers the kind of richness without weight that allows the fragrant peppery and cherry-skin flavors to last through the dark, earthy tannins, a little bitter, a little oaky, but cool in the end.

Vinous - 90 pts

Deep, brilliant red. Bright and energetic on the nose, displaying spice-tinged red fruit and floral scents and a hint of succulent herbs. Juicy, focused and light on its feet, offering bitter cherry and red currant flavors and showing smooth, seamless texture. In a graceful style, finishing with very good clarity and gentle tannic grip.

Plum and berry aromas are a bit rubbery in front of a smacking palate that’s tight and racy. Red plum, currant and tomato flavors finish tight, with nothing loose or gangly. This crianza plays up the fresh, no-frills side of Riojano Tempranillo. Opici Wines.
