Goulart Grand Vin

100% Malbec

Lulunta, Argentina

Goulart Grand Vin

Goulart’s flagship wine is produced from a small vineyard plot originally planted in 1915 by Marshall Gastao Goulart. Now known as the Don Pedro vineyard, this property is located in Lunlunta, which rests at the foothills of the Andes and enjoys a unique microclimate.

Aged in French oak barrels for more than a year, this wine offers complex aromas of black fruit — particularly black currants and plums — with hints of chocolate and spices. Juicy on the palate, this Malbec is bursting with energy and purity of fruit.

Goulart Grand Vin pairs well with hearty, spicy meat dishes, such as Mexican, Indian, or Cajun cuisine.

Bright, full ruby. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice and violet, with a complementary oak element. Dense, seamless and very ripe, but with nicely integrated acidity leavening the wine’s sweetness and framing its intense crushed cassis, plum and nutty oak flavors. Saturates the palate and builds on the aftertaste, which features serious but rather sweet tannins and excellent length.

Bodega Goulart’s 2008 Malbec (100%) spent 24 months in new French oak. The fruit was sourced from the estate’s oldest vines (95 years of age) and the wine was made by Luis Barraud and Andrea Marchiori (who, along with Paul Hobbs, produce Vina Cobos). A glass-coating opaque purple color, it emits inviting aromas of pencil lead, smoke, espresso, truffle, black cherry, boysenberry, and blackberry. Opulent on the palate with layers of ripe, succulent fruit, exceptional volume, and precision balance, it has the structure to evolve for several more years and will be delivering pleasure through its 20th birthday.
